Didn't find what you were looking for?
What do you need to do to consult a doctor about eye problems over the phone?
First of all, you need to:
register at the Dimedic online clinic and fill in the initial form, in which you can indicate the symptoms and a description that can help the doctor make a better diagnosis;
Remember that the more details you provide, the better the doctor will be able to familiarise themselves with your problem. If you have chronic eye problems, e.g. conjunctivitis, you can include a description of your last ophthalmological appointment.
if you suspect that your eye problems are also the result of improper hygiene (e.g. wearing false eyelashes or contact lenses), don't forget to mention it in the form;
eye problems can be a sign of other illnesses, including diabetes, so if you have a recent blood test, i.e. blood count or glucose level, it is worth including it for the doctor on the form;
After paying for the consultation, the doctor will contact you at a time of your choice (the Dimedic clinic is open 7 days a week, including public holidays, and doctors offer consultations from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.). The doctors call patients from the number + 48 426 412 041 (save it in your phone so you know who is calling),
After the consultation, you will receive medical recommendations and, if the doctor deems it necessary, an e-prescription for medication used to treat inflammation (which occurs during an injury) and an electronic sick note for the duration of your recovery.
Problems with your eyes? Consult a doctor online, even on the weekend!
Sight is a very sensitive organ that can be affected by many diseases.
From the really serious ones (e.g. cataracts) to the less advanced ones, e.g. itching as an allergic reaction.
Unfortunately, these symptoms are often ignored.
It will probably go away soon.
But what if it doesn't?
As a consequence of many untreated diseases, eyesight can also deteriorate significantly, and even lead to blindness.
Pssst! Spending long hours in front of a monitor and phone, exposing your eyes to blue light emission, is definitely not helping.
Eye problems, i.e.
Diseases (often with an allergic background) that can affect your eyesight, leading to blurred vision or itchy eyelids.
Eye problems can affect the eyeballs, the optic nerve, the conjunctiva, as well as the aforementioned surrounding structures, i.e. the eyelids.
What causes eye diseases?
Unfortunately, many factors, from environmental to genetic, affect the eyesight.
These can be:
too long and frequent exposure to light from screens;
excessive sun exposure;
lack of ophthalmological control;
wearing sunglasses without a filter;
lack of eye and face hygiene
poor sleep hygiene
reading in poor light
systemic chronic diseases.
What diseases can affect your eyes?
If you are wondering what problems can affect your eyes, you need to know that there are many such conditions that at first glance (;) are not dangerous.
One of these is the swelling that we sometimes wake up with in the morning.
However, we are not talking about the morning puffiness of the face, which disappears after a few minutes, but rather a larger swelling on one eyelid.
This can be the result of an allergic reaction (or an insect bite), but also of a malfunction of the kidneys, the endocrine system or even the liver.
In addition, there may also be problems such as pain and itching, which usually herald an allergic reaction, or... are a symptom of dry eye syndrome.
In most cases, antihistamines and drops, so-called artificial tears, which you can get from any pharmacy, help.
Unfortunately, touching many objects, working on a computer or other machines, means forgetting about proper hygiene.
What does this mean?
Sometimes it happens to everyone to rub their eye (which can lead to infection), but also... to transfer bacteria to this delicate organ.
The result is often a chalazion or stye.
As mums and grandmothers used to say, rubbing gold helps.
The real idea is to warm up the affected area (a hard-boiled egg wrapped in a cloth is ideal for this), which, with the help of heat, allows the barley to build up and burst more quickly.
If home remedies fail, consult a doctor who will prescribe a topical antibiotic to help the pus from the barley to come to the surface.
Of course, pain is quite obvious with such ailments, especially if there is also a fever (and the two often go together).
It is worth taking your temperature and seeing if your body is fighting an infection.
Remember that you should not diagnose yourself.
On the internet, you can read many serious descriptions of illnesses that may not apply to you at all.
That is why a video consultation with a doctor can reassure you and put you on the right track.
Especially if your problem has come on suddenly: in the evening or at the weekend, when it is difficult to make an appointment with a doctor.
Such serious (and often also genetically determined) diseases include glaucoma and cataracts.
This can also be accompanied by symptoms of iritis, retinitis or keratitis (bacterial, fungal, viral), which can cause ulcers.
It sounds very serious, doesn't it?
Or maybe it's just stress, fatigue and spending far too much time in front of your smartphone.
So consult a doctor, fill in the form carefully, attach photos of your eyes, wait for a phone call and... enjoy a peaceful evening at the weekend or away from home. :)
What is conjunctivitis?
In fact, conjunctivitis (ICD-10: H10-H13) is one of the most common ailments that can be caused by physical factors (e.g. sand in the eye) as well as chemical factors (e.g. smoke).
Allergies and other microorganisms such as fungi, bacteria and viruses can also cause conjunctivitis.
The itching and burning can be unbearable.
In addition:
- there may be a purulent discharge;
- the eyes may water;
a foreign body sensation in the eye;
bloodshot eyes with possible bruising;
photophobia;
enlarged lymph nodes;
symptoms similar to a cold;
sticking of the eyelids.
Based on the medical history and photos provided, as well as a thorough interview, the doctor may recommend antihistamines and anti-inflammatory drugs.
Of course, eye drops or antibiotic ointments should not be forgotten either.
How can I support eye treatment on a daily basis?
If you are at risk, i.e. you have an office job, take care of your eyes and make small changes that can be good for your eyes:
- always wear glasses with a filter;
- do not read in low light;
- do not stay in poorly lit rooms;
avoid smoky rooms;
try to limit the time you spend in front of a monitor or TV;
have your eyesight checked regularly;
eat plenty of fruit and vegetables (e.g. blueberries, which are good for your eyes);
stay hydrated;
get enough sleep.
Of course, you should keep this in mind at all times, not just at the moment of infection, when you mainly need to relieve the symptoms (e.g. with the recommended compresses and, of course, medication).
Small changes make a difference.
Perhaps next time you will protect your eyes from problems, and we are not just talking about visual impairments.
Will a tele-consultation help you in a situation where you have eye problems?
Of course: as with other illnesses, where the speed of contacting a doctor is important for the further development of the infection.
It is even easier for you if you are ill, because when a viral or bacterial infection is rapidly developing, one of the last things you have the strength for is a trip to the doctor's office.
With eye problems, which can be really tiring, sometimes you just don't have the strength for anything.
That is why the doctor can assess the problem you are dealing with and implement the appropriate treatment based on the symptoms.
Remember to regularly use the drops that soothe your condition and the medicines recommended by your Dimedic doctor.
Such meticulous treatment is very important when it comes to eye problems, which unfortunately tend to recur.
Especially when they are caused by allergic irritations.
How much does a telephone consultation with a doctor cost for the treatment of eye problems?
The price of a telephone consultation with an online family doctor at Dimedic is a maximum of 99.99 PLN.
Dimedic.eu is a private clinic, which is why we can provide medical services both after the opening hours of the GP clinic with NFZ contact, as well as on weekends and public holidays.
Our doctors work every day from 7am to 10pm and call patients from the phone number 426 412 041.
You can choose the time slot in which the doctor will contact you.
It is really convenient, especially if you suffer from conjunctivitis, for example.
Can I get a sick note and a prescription after a medical consultation for eye problems?
Of course you can, if the doctor thinks it is necessary.
They will certainly ask about your work situation, as you will not be able to concentrate if you have conjunctivitis or need to limit contact with allergens.
If the medication they want to prescribe requires a prescription, that's no problem.
All documents (including a sick note, i.e. the electronic ZUS-ZLA form, if necessary) will be sent to you by email after the telephone consultation.
If you have set up an Internet Patient Account, you will find the e-prescription, recommendations and other documents (e.g. sick note / ZUS-ZLA) there, and you will receive a confirmation by text message.
All documents issued by Dimedic doctors can be found in your Patient Panel in our online clinic.
