How does a consultation with a doctor by phone for the diagnosis of stomach problems work?
You register at the Dimedic online clinic and fill in the initial form, in which you describe your symptoms. Describe your health problem in detail in the form,
After paying for the consultation, the doctor will contact you at a time of your choice (our clinic is open 7 days a week, including public holidays, and doctors offer consultations from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.). The doctors call the patients from the number + 48 426 412 041 (save it in your phone – you will know who is calling),
After the consultation, you will receive medical recommendations and, if the doctor deems it necessary, an e-prescription for medication to treat stomach problems and an electronic sick note for the duration of your recovery.

Having stomach problems? Consult a doctor, even on Sundays and public holidays!
Diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting... everyone is familiar with these symptoms from their own experience. Stomach problems can really make life miserable. They are not only caused by viral or bacterial infections, but can also be a sign of food poisoning or even... severe stress. How can you deal with the problem and consult a doctor if... you are unable to leave the bathroom or get out of bed?

What are stomach problems?
This term can include a number of digestive system dysfunctions that can bother you, regardless of your age.
Typical symptoms of stomach problems are:
diarrhoea,
nausea,
stomach ache,
vomiting,
heartburn,
belching,
bloating.
Stomach ache or stomach problems (ICD-10:R10.1-4) is usually the term used to describe pain in the middle of the abdomen.
It can originate from other areas, e.g. the gallbladder or appendix, but the vast majority of cases diagnosed by doctors are viral or bacterial problems, as well as food poisoning.
The pain that occurs with these infections is usually acute and, although it goes away after a few days, you have to be careful not to infect the people around you.
But stomach problems are not just about stomach flu.
Some people also complain of stomach pain, but only in the morning.
What could be the problem?
Unfortunately, the pain can be caused by pancreatic problems or peptic ulcer disease, so if these symptoms persist for more than a month, be sure to consult a doctor.
The main causes of stomach pain are:
food poisoning;
viral gastroenteritis (commonly known as stomach flu) stomach ulcers;
acid reflux;
duodenal ulcers;
stomach cancer;
pancreatitis;
gastrointestinal neurosis;
irritable bowel syndrome;
gastritis.

Stomach ache, vomiting and fever? It could be stomach flu!
Remember that any viral infection (including stomach or intestinal infections) is a disease that can spread very quickly, especially in large groups of people.
What's more, it is very easy to catch.
Unfortunately, the effects of the infection can be really unpleasant, so if you find it difficult to leave the bathroom... you can always consult a doctor by phone.
This is possible at the Dimedic.eu clinic, where doctors, including online family doctors, are available seven days a week, from 7 am to 10 pm.
It's really convenient, especially when you are bothered by symptoms such as:
fatigue;
dehydration;
diarrhoea;
vomiting;
nausea;
fever;
muscle aches;
listlessness;
dizziness;
fainting;
inability to eat or drink.
Don't hesitate, time is definitely on your side here.

How do you recognise stomach ache?
You should know that stomach ache can be caused by many factors.
Of course, it is sometimes difficult to determine exactly where the pain is located.
Therefore, take a look at the diagram below, which may help you to pay attention to details you might not have thought of before.
The following should be noted here:
stomach and intestinal pain, which may indicate intestinal obstruction or gastritis;
stomach pain and nausea, which is usually the result of eating spoiled food or following a diet that is difficult to digest;
stomach pain and diarrhoea, which can indicate ‘intestinal flu’ or food poisoning;
stomach pain radiating to the back, which can lead the doctor to gallstone problems or acute pyelonephritis.

How can you support your body in the fight against stomach problems, apart from the treatment prescribed by the doctor?
First of all, you must remember to rehydrate your body.
This is extremely important for any stomach problems.
Especially for diarrhoea and vomiting, although in that case it can happen that everything you take is unfortunately soon returned.
However, it is important to make sure that your body does not become dehydrated during this difficult time and to take electrolytes, which you largely excrete with diarrhoea or vomiting.
And what else?
Of course, avoid eating food that can further irritate your digestive system.
Spicy or hard-to-digest food?
Better to leave it for another time!
Also remember to take your medication regularly as prescribed by your doctor and do not self-medicate.
Sometimes you can do more harm than good.
You can drink mint or camomile tea, which have a soothing effect on your stomach, and also apply warm compresses to your stomach.

Stomach problems? Avoid these products
If you suffer from frequent stomach pains, you should definitely pay attention to what you eat.
And remember that everything in excess is usually harmful.
Products that increase gastric secretion or highly processed foods, such as sweets or fast food, should definitely be in your diet occasionally.
Which foods should you be careful with and minimise as much as possible, especially if you are experiencing stomach problems?
First and foremost:
spicy and hot dishes based on chilli or curry;
fatty and heavy foods, e.g. pork knuckle;
acidic fruits, e.g. citrus fruits, which will irritate your stomach at this time;
some vegetables, e.g. tomatoes or peppers, the skin of which can settle on the stomach wall, further increasing pain;
drinking alcohol at this time, especially if you are undergoing treatment;
drinking strong tea or coffee, as well as carbonated drinks.
In addition, remember that digestive system pain and problems that arise, such as diarrhoea or vomiting, can be caused by food intolerances.
Nowadays, it is increasingly common to come across people who are lactose or gluten intolerant.
If your stomach problems worsen after consuming such products, be sure to inform your doctor during the telephone consultation.

Is it food poisoning or maybe a viral or bacterial infection?
Remember that in both cases you can consult a Dimedic doctor who, based on the examination, will recommend emergency measures.
Stomach cramps or the feeling of intestinal overflow, also accompanied by diarrhoea, are usually symptoms of food poisoning.
Usually, your body gets rid of the problem and quickly returns to normal.
But what if the diarrhoea or vomiting lasts more than a few hours?
The problem may be a bacterial or viral infection.
If you also have a fever and feel weak, consult a doctor as soon as possible.
Unfortunately, stomach problems can be very stressful for your body and there is definitely no point in delaying treatment.
And if it happens on a Saturday evening and you can't get to the clinic, a phone call to the doctor will help you get back on your feet faster.
If the doctor prescribes you an e-prescription or e-sick note, they will be sent to your email faster than you think, so you can get started right away!

What if the abdominal problems are... constipation?
Digestive problems are not always just diarrhoea or vomiting.
Sometimes the problem causing stomach pain is constipation.
Here, home remedies usually help to fight this problem, including:
- drinking a sufficient amount of water regularly (at least 2 litres of water a day);
- excluding products that have a constipating effect from the diet, i.e. sweets, fast food, white bread;
Eating plenty of fruit and vegetables.
Drinking flaxseed tea.
Eating fibre-rich products, which cleanse the intestines and speed up excretion.
Drinking warm water with lemon and honey every morning, which also helps with regularity of bowel movements.
In difficult and sensitive moments, consume products that individually stimulate your digestive system, e.g. black coffee or dried fruit.

Will a tele-consultation help you to overcome stomach problems?
Of course, as with other illnesses where the speed of contacting a doctor is important for the further development of the infection, a teleconsultation with your family doctor for stomach problems is a good decision.
Especially if you find it difficult to leave the house for a longer period of time because of... stomach problems.
It is even easier for you if you are ill, because when a viral or bacterial infection develops quickly, one of the last things you have the strength for is a trip to the doctor.
Based on your symptoms, the doctor can determine with a high degree of certainty whether you are suffering from a bacterial or viral infection and start treatment.
In the case of viral infections, the most important thing is to rest and relieve the symptoms by drinking chamomile or mint tea.
If you have food poisoning, the doctor will prescribe remedies to soothe and detoxify the body.
These symptoms usually last no longer than 2-3 days, but during this time you may have problems performing your professional duties.
Therefore, the doctor may decide to issue you a sick leave for the time of recovery (ZUS-ZLA).
Remember to drink plenty of water (the rule is: often, but not too much) and follow a diet that is easy to digest.
If the doctor suspects bacterial gastritis, he or she may refer you for antibiotic treatment or tests to determine the specific treatment.
Importantly, during a telephone consultation, the doctor may decide to refer you to a gastrologist, especially if the symptoms are unclear or may indicate a more serious source of the disease.

What herbs can help with the treatment recommended by the Dimedic doctor?
Remember that the treatment prescribed by your doctor is not everything.
You also have to pay attention to what you eat and drink.
In addition to water and electrolytes, which are often particularly important for stomach problems, you can also support your body with various herbs.
The most popular are mint or chamomile infusions, which soothe the stomach and speed up its regeneration.

How much does a telephone consultation with a doctor cost for stomach problems?
The price of a telephone consultation with a family doctor for the treatment and diagnosis of stomach problems at Dimedic is a maximum of 99.99 PLN.
Dimedic.eu is a private clinic, which is why we can provide medical services both after the opening hours of the GP clinic with contact to the National Health Fund (NFZ), as well as on weekends and public holidays.
Our doctors work every day from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. and call patients from the phone number 426 412 041.
You can choose the time slot in which the doctor will contact you.
It's really convenient, especially when you can't really... get from the bathroom to the bedroom, let alone go to the doctor's office!

Can you get a sick note and a prescription after a medical consultation for stomach problems?
Of course you can, if the doctor thinks it's necessary.
And it is well known that with diarrhoea, nausea or acute stomach pain, it is rather difficult to perform professional duties.
All documents (including sick leave, i.e. the ZUS-ZLA electronic form, if necessary) will be sent to your email address after the telephone consultation.
If you have set up an Internet Patient Account, you will find the e-prescription, recommendations and other documents (e.g. sick leave / ZUS-ZLA) there, and you will receive a confirmation by text message.
All documents issued by Dimedic doctors can be found in your Patient Panel in our online clinic.
